“A house with daffodils in it is a house lit up, whether or no the sun be shining outside.” – A.A. Milne. The daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissusis) is a delightful early flower of spring. Daffodils are native to northern Europe and grow in temperate climates around the world. They symbolize friendship, good fortune and new beginnings. The florist I bought mine from reminded me not to put daffodils and tulips in the same water. Cut daffodils release latex from their stems which can shorten the life of other flowers. Their cheerful yellow trumpets always make me smile!
