Spirit Island Enchantment

This original acrylic painting is of Spirit Island on Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. Spirit Island is actually a small peninsula island that has become world-famous. It is a spiritual place for the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, who consider the surrounding mountains as physical representations of their ancestors. Visitors may only access the area by boat and show their respect by staying off the island and just enjoying the magnificent view. I used a photograph that I took at this location to inspire this painting. The mist was just lifting the morning that I visited, giving a dreamlike quality to the gorgeous scene. The painting measures 18 by 24 inches (46 x 60 cm). Please note that postage is not included in the price and will vary according to destination.
